Where to Buy Used School Uniforms

I love to get my hands on free and inexpensive school uniforms!
I would rather buy a gently worn pair of name brand khakis (like Gap or Osh Kosh) than buy a cheap new pair. Here are a few ways to find gently worn school uniforms.

Goodwill & other thrift stores – Shopping at thrift stores can be difficult. The children’s clothing is often only roughly sorted, but you can find some amazing deals if you’re willing to spend the time hunting. It’s not unusual to find clothes with the tags still attached!

Consignment Sales - My favorite places to buy used kids clothing! They are especially good for babies and young children. The selection is much more limited for older boys but I always manage to find a few gems to make it worth my time. Go early in the sale for the best selection or if you are looking for something specific. Go on the last day of the sale (usually ½ price day) if you are looking for baby clothes or just want the best deal possible. Check out kidsconsignmentsales.com for a list of consignment sales in your area. One of my favorite sales in the Nashville area is

Consignment Stores – Once Upon a Child and other consignment stores can be a little more expensive than thrift stores and consignment sales, but there are still many great deals to be found. Check for a Once Upon A Child in your area.

Hand me downs - Don’t be shy about asking friends and neighbors for their kids outgrown clothing & shoes.

School Clothing Exchange – Find out if your school has a clothing exchange program or talk to your schools PTO about starting one yourself. It is a great way for families to save money and help others.

Ebay - Check for school uniform items in your child size. You can find more by searching for "Uniforms" and then click on the sizes you are looking for on the left side of the page.
